Legal
Terms & Conditions
These terms govern your use of Yolect, an AI writing product operated by The Story Assembly. Please read them — they explain what we provide, what we ask of you, and how billing works.
Last updated: 31 August 2026
1. Who you are contracting with
Yolect is provided by The Story Assembly (“we”, “us”, “our”), trading as Yolect. By creating an account or using the service you enter into an agreement with The Story Assembly. You can reach us at support@yolect.com.
2. Acceptance of these terms
By signing up for, accessing, or continuing to use Yolect you agree to these terms. If you are using Yolect on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation. If you are using it as an individual, you confirm you are of legal age in your country. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.
3. What the service does
Yolect captures your expertise — voice notes, videos, written notes and previously published posts — and helps you draft social content in your own voice. Drafts are suggestions. You decide what to publish, and you are responsible for anything you publish.
4. Your account
- Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your login credentials confidential; you are responsible for activity under your account.
- Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
5. Licence and restrictions
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Yolect within the plan you have selected. You may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source of the service.
- Resell, sublicense or redistribute the service or its outputs as a competing product.
- Circumvent usage limits, quotas, rate limits or other technical restrictions.
6. Acceptable use
You must not misuse Yolect. In particular, you must not:
- Use the service for anything unlawful, or to facilitate unlawful activity.
- Use it for fraud, spam, bulk unsolicited messaging, or deceptive impersonation.
- Infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights.
- Interfere with the security or integrity of the service — malware, probing, penetration testing, scraping, or automated bulk extraction.
- Attempt to access other users' data, accounts, or knowledge libraries.
7. AI outputs: your responsibility and ours
Yolect is a generative AI product. That carries specific obligations for both sides.
- Prohibited content: you must not use the service to generate illegal content, sexual content involving minors, deepfakes or misleading impersonation of real people, hate speech, harassment, malware, or content designed to jailbreak or subvert model safety systems.
- You are responsible for your prompts, your captured material, and how you use outputs — including verifying accuracy before publishing.
- You must have the rights to any content you upload, paste, record or import, including posts, transcripts and documents.
- Inputs and outputs: you retain ownership of the content you provide and, as between you and us, of the drafts generated from it. You grant us a limited licence to host and process that content solely to operate and improve the service for you.
- Rights-holder complaints: if you believe content generated or hosted on the service infringes your rights, contact us at the support address and we will investigate and remove infringing material. Repeated or serious infringement leads to account termination.
- Moderation: we may remove or restrict content, refuse or filter outputs, and suspend accounts where use breaches these terms or applicable law.
- Accuracy: AI outputs can be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. They are not professional, legal, medical, financial or tax advice, and should not be used in regulated contexts without qualified human review.
8. Intellectual property
We retain all ownership of Yolect itself — the software, models, prompts, documentation, design and branding. Nothing in these terms transfers our intellectual property to you.
9. Service availability
We work hard to keep Yolect available and fast, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. Features may change, and maintenance or third-party model outages may cause temporary disruption.
10. Payment, subscriptions and taxes
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Payment, billing frequency, renewals, cancellations, tax and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms. Paid plans renew automatically for the period you selected until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your billing page or through Paddle; access continues to the end of the paid period. See our Refund Policy for refunds.
11. Warranties and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim, and we exclude indirect, consequential or special damages including lost profits, data or goodwill. Nothing excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury where the law does not allow it.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from content you provide or publish, your unlawful use of the service, or your breach of these terms.
13. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access where there is:
- A material breach of these terms.
- Non-payment of fees due.
- A security, abuse or fraud risk to the service or other users.
- Repeated or serious violation of the acceptable use or AI content rules above.
You may stop using Yolect at any time. On termination you can export your content for 30 days, after which we may delete it.
14. Changes, law and disputes
We may update these terms; material changes will be notified by email or in the app. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the courts of India, without limiting any mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence. You may not assign this agreement without our consent; we may assign it as part of a merger or acquisition. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control.
